Derek Ellard ends four-year silence with electrifying new single ‘Equal To Or Greater Than'
Take a look at the new video from Derek Ellard & The Future Business Model below.
After making many tongues wag in the middle of the Noughties with his pleasingly hard to pigeon-hole musical exploits, Galway songsmith Derek Ellard entered into something of an Odin Sleep, removing his previous releases online and seemingly disappearing.
Comeback track ‘Equal To Or Greater Than’ ends a four year radio silence and signals his return to action in considerable style, aided and abetted by a killer band with serious chops. Now re-branded as Derek Ellard & The Future Business Model, the number is an intoxicating brew of folk and post rock that’s peppered with a little bit of prog and it should see the four-piece’s stock soar over the months ahead.
Examining the beauty and blemishes of the Emerald Isle, the song is a little like the late great Elliott Smith jamming with And So I Watch You From Afar and full of surprising time changes, lush vocals and a glorious fuzzy guitar solo.
Released via the Umbrella Records collective, ‘Equal To Or Greater Than’ is the first of six singles to be released over the next 12 months (in addition to an EP). Check out the gorgeous video for the track below:
