Dear John
Former swedish pro-cyclist turns his hand to dark love songs. Wow.
Currently lauded by just about everyone, Swedish multi-instrumentalist/former pro-cyclist (yes, really) Emil Svanangen is certainly making all the right moves and his fifth record Dear John is a powerhouse of dark love songs and indie-pop bravado. Employing a range of instruments to create the Loney Dear sound, Emil expertly crafts mini-symphonies that fall somewhere between Badly Drawn Boy, Kings Of Convenience and Arcade Fire yet still sound unique. Recent single ‘Airport Surroundings’ is a great introduction into his world, but the epic ‘Everything Turns To You’ and ‘Under A Silent Sea’ show a true star in the making. Believe the hype.
Key Track: ‘Airport Surroundings’
