David Byrne covers Olivia Rodrigo's 'drivers license'

David Byrne has released a cover of Olivia Rodrigo's debut single 'drivers license', marking the song's fifth anniversary.
The cover is part of a wider project, which sees some of Rodrigo's favourite artists perform songs from her 2021 album SOUR.
Rodrigo and Byrne will also be releasing a vinyl of their version of Talking Head's 'Burning Down The House', which was recorded at the 2025 Governor's ball and can be pre-ordered now.
Olivia Rodrigo's debut album SOUR helped elevate Rodrigo's career from being a Disney Channel star to Billboard Woman of the Year in 2022, with the record also winning a Grammy for pop album of the year. Since then, she's become an acclaimed global artist, headlining Glastonbury and Marlay Park in 2025.
"I’m so excited to announce an upcoming series of reimagined SOUR covers from some of my favorite artists ever. we’re starting off insanely strong with an incredible reworking of ‘drivers license’ from one of my all-time heroes, David Byrne," Rodrigo expressed on Instagram.
