Darklight Film Festival kicks off this weekend
The pioneering film and art festival is taking place in various locations around Smithfield from April 24 to 27.
Following it’s massive success in previous years the forward-looking feast of film and discussion will be entirely transforming Smithfield square with a host of events taking place in venues like The Lighthouse Cinema, Block T and Third Space.
The itinerary for this year’s festival is divided into three different strands each dealing with disparate aspects of film culture and conversation. The WHAT’S UP DOC? strand examining the evolving complexion of documentary film-making, the DIGITAL STORYTELLING strand meditates on what effect recent technological shifts have had on the film industry and finally the GAME CHANGERS strand which takes a step back and looks at some of the movies and moments that have altered the film world forever.
Other highlights include a special Screening of the breathtaking documentary The Act of Killing followed by a Q&A session with director Joshua Oppenheimer and what is being billed as “the biggest interactive game of chasing Dublin city has ever witnessed“ courtesy of Dublin theatre troupe Make and Do.
With a jam-packed agenda full of “digital storytelling, street games, film screenings, hack jams, visual art, live music, collaborative workshops, discussions and unrivalled parties” Darklight looks set to be a weekend to remember pick up your tickets now from entertainment.ie/darklightfestival
