Cork Music Archive launched
The Rory Gallagher Music Library, Cork, have announced a new project to preserve the city's musical history.
Cork City's Central Library is to create a new local music archive. Its Music and Local Studies Libraries are to collect and preserve the county's past and present musical output. The collection will range from books and articles to CDs and DVDs to records, tapes and musical scores, and will be made available to the public.
Since 1978, the Central Library's specialist Music Library has provided for a wide range of musical tastes - whether jazz, rock, pop or classical. In 2004, it was renamed The Rory Gallagher Music Library in honour of the legendary blues guitarist who grew up in the city.
