Composer Karen Power announces digital release of Language,Land,Sea featuring the voice of Loré Lixenberg
Language, Land, Sea will be available to stream on Bandcamp from February 6.
Composer Karen Power has announced the digital release of Language, Land, Sea, on February 6.
Originally released in 2023, the record is a “one-woman environmental opera” that places the voice of mezzo-soprano singer Loré Lixenberg in a mixture of real and imagined environments and consists of nine tracks, which together form a forty-minute, wordless work.
Karen Power is an Irish composer, based in Cork, Ireland, whose compositions use two primary sources: acoustic instruments and environmental sound.
Built entirely from field recordings collected over many years, Power recorded the album during a field recording trip, when it became apparent to her that human presence exists even in locations considered isolated.
The field recordings come from a wide range of locations, from remote islands to more local and populated places around the world.
Language, Land, Sea will be available to stream on Bandcamp from February 6.
