Clune to record album
Clune, who won the hearts of countless Irish music fans as David Gray's music partner for 13 years, is recording an album in Ireland using Irish musicians.
Clune departed the Gray camp four years ago, and this will be his first and long-awaited solo album.
Among the Irish musicians featured on the debut are Fergus McGovern, Wayne Sheehy, Garvan Gallagher, Frank Kearns and former Michele Ann Kelly sidewoman Chiara Browne. McGovern is the singer and lyric writer of all the songs, apart from the cover songs which, as it happens, he selected. Sheehy and Clune are producing different songs and the recordings have been taking place in Carl Carlton’s house in Wicklow (he was Robert Palmer’s guitarist for 15 years) and Frank Kearn’s studio.
More big names are expected to join in the fun and games before the album has been completed. The album is as yet unnamed, but we have heard the title The Stillwater Sessions bandied about.
