Jokingly titling the episode 'Breathe in, breathe out, move on', the radio host referenced his resignation from the motoring show
Chris Evans' breakfast show on BBC Radio 2 was today dedicated to the host's former Top Gear colleagues.
Following a season which was widely panned by critics (our man Colm O'Regan included) and audience alike, dropping to a historic low in viewing figures, the TFI Friday man stepped down from the show yesterday – and was quick to reference it this morning.
"Today's show is dedicated to all the Top Gear gang," he said, before adding, "and today's show is entitled Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On."
Later, while going through the papers, he once again spoke of his decision to leave the hotseat so long occupied by Jeremy Clarkson – though noted that Nigel Farage's resignation from UKIP would strike him as a more important issue of the day.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the BBC will not seek a replacement for Evans, instead promoting Matt leBlanc to the lead role on the magazine show. Pre-production has already begun on a new season, set to begin filming in September.
