Cause of George Michael's death determined
It has been revealed that George Michael died of natural causes, according to a report from senior coroner in Oxfordshire Darren Salter.
“As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further inquiries. No further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy," Salter explained.
Dilated cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle, which causes it to be stretched and worn thin, impacting blood circulation. It can be a hereditary condition, or can be developed over time due to infection, high blood pressure, alcohol use, or pre-existing heart valve conditions.
The singer passed away in his home on Christmas of this past year at the age of 53.
