Cat Stevens to release Saturnight: Live From Tokyo for the first time outside of Japan
The 12-track album includes hits like 'Lady D’Arbanville' and 'Wild World.'
Cat Stevens’ 1974 album Saturnight: Live From Tokyo will be released outside of Japan for the first time on May 2.
The record will be available on CD, vinyl, digital download and streaming. Originally released exclusively in Japan due to contractual restrictions, the project was remastered at Abbey Road Studios. The re-release will celebrate the albums’ 50th anniversary.
The CD will feature a 16-page booklet, including new retrospective recollections of bassist Bruce Lynch and the band’s 1974 tour manager Carl Miller.
At the time of its original release, proceeds of the album were donated to UNICEF, a UN agency dedicated to humanitarian aid for children worldwide. Stevens, also known as Yusuf Islam, recently became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. He’s visited Ethiopia and Kenya with the organisation, making his humanitarian efforts a central focus in his life.
