Carly Smithson poised for American chart breakthrough
She's getting serious amounts of attention as part of an Evanescence spin-off band.
Irish American Idol finalist Carly Smithson (nee Hennessy) resurfaces this week as part of We Are The Fallen, the new goth pop outfit put together by three former members of US chart-toppers Evanescence.
Smithson, who’s had several false dawns in her career, plays the Amy Lee role with aplomb and will be heartened by the huge amounts of airplay their ‘Bury Me Alive’ single has been garnering.
Its parent album, Tear The World Down, has also been well-received by radio and has prompted 100,000 people to sign up to the We Are The Fallen website.
“I've never had music flow out of me so easily nor have I ever felt so meant to be somewhere,” Carly enthuses. “There’s just no effort to it with these guys, we work so perfectly together.”
