Cork band Cardinals have released a new single, ‘The Burning of Cork,’ the second track to be taken from their forthcoming debut album Masquerade, out February 13.
The track arrives alongside a music video directed by Greg Purcell and is described by frontman Euan Manning as “the record at its heaviest and most menacing,”
“The song takes its name from the act of terror inflicted upon Cork City by the British Army's Black and Tan forces in December 1920,” Manning said.
Formed by brothers Euan and Finn Manning, their cousin Darragh, and school friends Oskar Gudinovic and Aaron Hurley, the band had tracks from their 2023 self-titled debut EP featured in Netflix’s drama House of Guinness and EA Sports’ Skate series.
Cardinals are currently on tour with NewDad in the UK and Ireland, with upcoming shows in Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Belfast.
The band will then embark on a headline European tour in late November, kicking off in Paris on November 24, followed by shows in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Gent, and Nijmegen, before wrapping up in Amsterdam on November 30.
Full tour dates and more information can be found here.
