Brandi Carlile praises CMAT’s “baptising” performance at Just Wanna Weekend Festival
"She's a star, an every-500-years kind of star; you know it immediately when you see it," said Carlile.
Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile has hailed CMAT as a once-in-a-generation talent following a standout performance at this year’s Just Wanna Weekend festival at the Barceló Maya Riviera in Mexico.
In an Instagram post shared after the event, Carlile described CMAT’s performance as “blazingly brilliant”, saying CMAT and her band “baptised” festivalgoers with her set.
“Her music is untouchable, her sense of country is revolutionary,” Carlile wrote, adding that CMAT’s star power was immediately noticeable.
“She loves to be on stage and put on a show for the people she loves and you feel loved when she’s entertaining you.”
"Make no mistake,” Carlile wrote. “CMAT is a fucking star.”
"We got to hold onto a shooting star for a brief brilliant moment," she said.
The musician also gave CMAT's Euro-Country a shoutout, telling her fans "not to sleep on it".
CMAT released her latest album, Euro-Country, this past August, scoring her nominations such as the Mercury Prize Album of the Year, Best International Artist at the BRITs and the RTÉ Music Choice Prize. The Dunboyne singer-songwriter also went viral on social media last year for tracks such as 'Take A Sexy Picture Of Me' and 'Euro-Country'.
