Lizzy McAlpine announces new album Angel

Lizzy McAlpine has announced her fourth studio album, Angel, which is due for release on September 18 via RCA Records. The album will be previewed by its lead single, ‘The light in the painting’, arriving on Thursday, July 23. An accompanying video was directed by McAlpine and Neema Sadeghi.

“I wrote ‘The light in the painting’ about the euphoric beginning of a new connection. It’s the first song I wrote for the album, almost two years ago now, and feels like the perfect introduction to the world we’ve built for Angel,” McAlpine said in a statement.

Angel follows McAlpine’s 2024 album Older, which reached No. 93 on the US Billboard 200 and No. 70 in Ireland. The forthcoming 15-track record will be her fourth studio release, following Give Me a Minute, Five Seconds Flat and Older.

The Philadelphia-area singer-songwriter first reached a wider audience through songs and covers posted online. Her 2022 single ‘Ceilings’, from Five Seconds Flat, later became a viral hit and entered the US Billboard Hot 100.

Ahead of the album's release, McAlpine will perform at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island on July 25, joining a line-up that includes CMAT, Brandi Carlile, Lucy Dacus, The Lumineers and Lauryn Hill.
