Bowie's band members to take part in birthday gig
His right-hand men and women will be descending on the Brixton Academy in January.
David Bowie’s birthday will be celebrated in style on January 8 at the Brixton Academy when band alumina from Space Oddity up to Blackstar join MC Gary Oldman for a run through of his peerless back catalogue.
The former include Mike Garson, Earl Slick, Adrian Belew, Mark Plati, Gail Ann Dorsey, Sterling Campbell, Zachary Alford, Holly Palmer, Catherine Russell and Gerry Leonard, Bowie’s musical director for the latter part of his career who hails from Clontarf and was formerly one-half of Dublin duo Hinterland.
The London tribute follows on from similar Oldman-fronted bashes that took place during the spring in Los Angeles and San Francisco. We have to say the actor does a very fine ‘The Man Who Sold The World’.
Tickets are available this Friday with proceeds going to the Children & The Arts charity.
