Boomtown Rats documentary on the way, featuring Bono, Sinead O'Connor and Sting
Boomtown charts the history and legacy of the iconic Irish band.
Boomtown, a documentary film about Bob Geldof and the Boomtown Rats, is set to be the first project from the newly launched BeyondTNC - a new venture dedicated to developing music-related film and television content.
Featuring exclusive interviews with the band, as well as insights from Bono, Sting, Sinead O'Connor and Dave Stewart, the film will be the first official documentary chronicling the history of the Boomtown Rats.
Boomtown, filmed in Dublin, London and New York, was directed and produced by Billy McGrath through his Irish production company, Sideline.
Speaking to Variety, Michael Murphy, the general manager of Beyond Distribution, revealed that McGrath was "a flat mate of Bob Geldof when they were young, so it's a personal look at The Boomtown Rats, their impact on Irish culture, and them becoming one of the biggest bands in the world."
Boomtown will be launched to international buyers at the MIPCOM market, currently underway in Cannes.
