Booker T. Jones for the Sugar Club
One of the Guvnors of soul, Booker T. Jones, pays a visit to the Dublin Sugar Club on January 11, 2015. Tickets priced €30 go on sale on Friday September 26.
The winner of a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, the Hammond B3 Organ merchant revolutionised the genre in the ‘60s with tunes like ‘Green Onions’, ‘Hang ‘Em High’, ‘Time Is Tight’ and ‘Melting Pot’ which were as enthusiastically received by the UK and Ireland’s burgeoning mod movement as they were by the folks back home.
Now reunited with Stax Records, Booker has released a new album, Sound The Alarm, with such modern day admirers as Usher, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliot and Chaka Khan… Chaka Khan… Chaka Khan. Sorry, couldn’t resist it!
