Set in the 1960s, director Julie Taymor's Across The Universe tells the story of Liverpool dock worker Jude (Jim Sturgess), who travels to America to find his estranged father. There, he falls in love with an American girl (Evan Rachel Wood) and becomes involved with the anti-war movement.

Bono plays Dr. Robert - like all of the film's main characters, his role is named after a Beatles song.

The film, which also stars Eddie Izzard and Salma Hayek, will combine live action with both animation and puppetry.

The film is set for release in the UK and Ireland on September 28.
