Bombay Bicycle Club - So Long, See You Tomorrow

Bankers, businessmen and politicians take note – Bombay Bicycle Club have it sussed. The key to long-term success is simple: profitable, sustainable growth.

Since 2009, the Crouch End foursome have been hard at it. While each album has represented a departure from the last, BBC have never been so radical as to alienate fans, who continue happily to go along for the ride.

And what a ride this record turns out to be. Written while frontman Jack Steadman spent a year travelling the globe, So Long, See You Tomorrow is curious and adventurous.

It also boasts a melting-pot of global sounds. There are Middle Eastern strings (‘Overdone’), experimental R&B grooves (‘Home By Now’), shoegaze reverb (‘Come To Me’) and, on the titletrack, some Sigur Ros-style post-rock.

So Long, See You Tomorrow also features a couple of cracking singles. The disco rhythms, looped vocals and bursting synths of ‘Carry Me’ will earn the band plenty of new fans, while the uplifting ‘Luna’ is the high-point of record that just keeps on giving.
