Blind Alley
This project is the brainchild of one Mark Lawlor, who purveys a nice if unspectular line in folk rock motifs with occasional forays - as in 'Gill with a G' - into grunge guitar territory. There are signs though, that with a little more focus in certain areas, something better should come from this in the medium to long term.

There are signs though, that with a little more focus in certain areas, something better should come from this in the medium to long term. A case in point is 'One Act of Love' with its beatlesque feel - lovely guitar work, lovely harmonies - and if some of the rhyming schemes on 'Irish Eyes' err on the obvious side, it too has more than enough redeeming features.
It's quite obvious that quite a lot of thought has gone into this album - the musicianship is first class and the vocals are right up there - but I am just not sure quite where it is supposed to be going.
File under work in progress.
