Following great performances at the four regional finals, 15 bands have made it through to the final of the national, all-ages band contest.
The winning band at the Leinster event was Krimson from Castleknock Comunity College Dublin. Runners up were Home Star Runner, Cosure and Steer Clear.
Other student finalists include the Ulster bands - Nice N Sleazy, The Shots and Rescue the Astronaut.
Munster bands that successfully made it through to the final include The Impressionists, The Demise and Soloway.
A mighty five bands made it through in Connacht with bands Transgress, Halo, The Deans, Neighbourhood and Under Siege all successfully securing their place in the final.
All the bands go on to the final in Cork Opera House on Saturday May 13. The top prize is €5,000 to the top mini company, and a much sought after record deal for the winning band.
RTÉ have commissioned Tyrone to produce a 6 part TV series following the progress of the competition which will air on RTÉ TWO every Friday at 7pm until May 19.
Over 1,000 secondary school students entered the Coca-Cola Blastbeat programme. Transition year students in all four provinces have formed their own music companies to organise local battle of the band competitions. Each company is formed to replicate record companies with CEOs, financial directors, PR and A&R personnel.
