The Brighton & Bristol Institute of Modern Music will offer a four-year BA (Hons) degree course
It’s just been announced that the UK’s most successful rock college, the Brighton & Bristol Institute of Modern Music (BIMM), is coming to Dublin in September.
Operating in partnership with the Dublin Institute of Technology, BIMM will offer a four-year BA (Hons) degree course for up to 500 students who’ll have the opportunity to study guitar, bass, drums, vocals and songwriting along with such facets of the industry as artist management, live music production, performance and publishing. Registration for the 2011/12 academic year is now open through the CAO points system and by contacting BIMM Dublin at .
Among those conducting tutorials will be Cathy Davey, Ollie Cole, Steve Wall, Graham Hopkins, Colm Quearney, Dave Hingerty and Dan O’Connor.

“There’s a lot of snobbery in music,” BIMM Group President Kevin Nixon reflects. “Classical, jazz, opera etc. have this right of legitimacy that needs to be extended to all music young and old. Our partners at DIT recognise this and so together we hope to bring a new, open and long term attitude to the music of today’s Ireland. BIMM Dublin is for young people who care deeply and who are committed to a career in music, and we are very excited about the talent that it’ll undoubtedly attract.”
