Beyoncé Remembers Performing with Prince at the Grammys
"Walking into rehearsals, I was just so overwhelmed and nervous and star-struck," the singer recounted in a 2012 interview with Giant Magazine.
"I was on the stage with Prince?! Are you serious?"
Even Beyonce couldn't help but be star-struck by the Prince, as she recalled in a 2012 interview with Giant magazine, during which she discussed her 2004 Grammys performance with the late icon.
"Of course I was terrified to be working with him," she recalls in the clip. "Walking into rehearsals, I was just so overwhelmed and nervous and star-struck. We rehearsed every day for an hour for a week, instead of six hours the day before. That was so smart, it was Prince's idea -- I guess he knows people are star-struck because he's so amazing. It made me really comfortable, by the time it was time to do it, it was second nature."
She added of their end-of-show glance, "Right before he whispered, 'At the end, make this face' -- we did it, and that moment was so great. He kept saying, 'Don't be scared, c'mon, belt it out.' He could see that I was holding back in rehearsals -- but I let it out when it was time!"
