Beyoncé Beats Prince To The No.1 Spot
Walking on Cars are staying the course, while Sia, Rihanna and 5 Seconds of Summer are among the biggest movers in this week’s Irish charts.
In most weeks, the death of a major star like Prince would guarantee a surefire No.1 – but this week is a very different one, with the release of Beyoncé’s latest opus Lemonade.
And guess what? Beyoncé has grabbed to top spot in the charts, ahead of Prince’s The Very Best Of compilation. The top three is completed by another Prince compilation, Ultimate.
Next up is the top Irish act, Walking On Cars, who continue to perform exceptionally well, holding down the No.4 slot with Everything This Way.
Prince is also at No.10 and No. 11 with Sign O’ The Times and Purple Rain, respectively.
Surprisingly last week’s No.2, P. J. Harvey’s The Hope Six Demolition Project has dropped to No.29 in its second week on release. Aside from Beyoncé and Prince there are no new entries this week. Sia’s This Is acting is the most impressive climber, jumping from No.19 to No.8. Meanwhile 5 Seconds Of Summer get a bounce asa result of their 3Arena gig, just squeezing into the Top 30, up from No.69.
Also making a comeback is Rihanna’s Anti, which moves from No.32 to No.19.
