Best Of
This album is a forceful reminder that on their day – and they had a few – they could live with anyone.
The Rats were different from all the rest. Their perspective was informed not from inarticulate outrage at “the system”, but from a much more subversive look at society, as they perceived it – the pimps, the fixers, the hookers, the corruption which pervaded it here and elsewhere like a running sore. So what if Geldof was a mouthy git – history has shown that he was almost totally right in his observations and condemnation. So what if Fingers wore pyjamas onstage – his keyboard skills showed him to be no dozer. Gary Roberts and Gerry Cott played guitars as if their leads were welded to their hearts, and Simon Crowe could thump tubs with the best of them. This album is a forceful reminder that on their day – and they had a few – they could live with anyone. Listen and enjoy.
