The Northern Irish DJ's guide to the modern music industry is out on May 16.
Musician and BBC Radio 1 DJ Phil Taggart has announced his first book, Slacker Guide To The Music Industry. Listed as one of our top literary titles to look for in 2019, the books sees Taggart sharing his hard-won industry expertise with those looking to understand more about about the inner workings of the music world. It also features contributions from some of the most successful names in the business, including Biffy Clyro, Run the Jewels, Charli XCX and George Ezra, as well as industry figures working behind-the-scenes.
In a statement, Taggart commented on the inspiration behind the book:
“There are so many moving parts to the music industry to get a handle on when you are just starting out - hopefully the last few years gathering the great and the good of music together for this book will help a little bit and free up some brain space to focus on what’s important... playing and performing.”
The 364-page guide includes chapters on Building a Fanbase, Music Videos, Management, Image, Publishing, Distribution and Streaming, PR and much more.
