If there’s anybody left out there who still thinks of the harp in terms of background dulcet tones teased gently out by comely maidens, this superb CD ought to put paid to such lingering clichés. It’s also a testament to the inspirational power of biscuits, as demonstrated by the opening and closing tracks – ‘Hob Knobs’ and ‘The Custard Cream Set’, respectively, featuring foot-tapping jazzy tunes jointly composed by Cormac and his guitarist brother Fionán. Another original number, ‘The Booterstown Manoeuvres’, was written by their mother, Nessa Ní Thuama, while third brother Éamonn de Barra lends a hand on flute, whistle and bodhrán and their uncle Séamus Óg Ó Tuama contributes a couple of songs, making this a true family effort.
