Barbra Streisand sets what we’re pretty sure is a new Irish record by having a top ticket price of €551.75 for her debut performance here on July 14 in Castletown House, County Kildare.
Defending the cost, a spokesperson for the singer tells the London Evening Standard newspaper: “Seeing Barbra Streisand in concert is a pretty momentous occasion that ranks up there with seeing Sinatra or Elvis. If you think that FA Cup Final tickets are going for £1,600, you get some sort of context.”
Part of the proceeds, they pointed out, will go to the Barbra Streisand Foundation, which supports a variety of environmental, civil rights and youth charities.
For the non-multimillionaires among you, other tickets for the MCD promoted show, which find her accompanied by a 58-piece orchestra, go on sale at 9am on May 11 priced €118.50, €193.50 and €270.75.
