Having launched earlier this year with a headline show from SOAK, the new songwriter series at McIntyre's Saloon Bar in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal, is back – with Junior Brother announced for Friday, June 7.
The Kerry singer-songwriter, who has scored nominations for both the Choice Music Prize and the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards, released his lauded second album, The Great Irish Famine in 2022, followed by his Junior Brother's Favourite EP the following year. More recently, he's returned with 'The Men Who Eat Ringforts'.
Fresh from his appearance at the Pogues' Red Roses For Me 40th anniversary show at the Hackney Empire, Junior Brother is also set to play the upcoming Gig for Gaza at Vicar Street on June 2, alongside ØXN, Pretty Happy and Mohammad Syfkhan.
The gig series in Ballyshannon is presented by Dominic Angelella – who will also be playing support on the night.
Although now based in Co. Donegal, Dominic was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and has toured with Lucy Dacus and Natalie Prass, as well as recording as a session musician for the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Tinashe, Mac Miller and Juicy J. He released two new tracks, 'Satellite Telephone' and 'Analogue Circuit' last week, which followed his recent Move Out of America EP.
