Ash bassist teams up with Snow Patrol to give fans one-of-a-kind merchandise for a good cause.
Mark Hamilton, bassist of Ash, is repurposing his band's used guitar strings for a great cause. Now you can buy a one-of-a-kind piece of bracelet of Ash's strings. The Irish artist and musician is selling 115 new pieces of jewellery made out of strings played by his bandmates and his tourmates from Snow Patrol from their US tour earlier this year. The proceeds of each sale goes towards Cancer Focus Northern Ireland. The project hits particularly close to Hamilton, whose mother is currently battling breast cancer for the third time.
"I posted about them on my personal Facebook page and in minutes they were all sold. We raised £1,200 for charity from used strings that would've otherwise been thrown in landfill." For the second batch of bangles, Hamilton is hoping to raise approximately £3000.
The bangles were available in a variety of sizes and colours from rose gold acoustic and silver electric sets. The #RockBangles, which already appear to have sold out, were up for £25-£30 each on www.markhamiltonartist.com/shop. Though the bracelets are gone, do consider donating to the cause which is linked on his website.
