Tommy Tiernan, Deirdre O'Kane, Barry Murphy & more to perform at Galway Comedy Festival

The Galway Comedy Festival will take place from October 20 to 26 this year. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, September 15, at 10 a.m.

Nicknamed 'Comedy Christmas', this year's lineup will include 60 shows with 80 performers, spanning seven days and nights.

The entertainers include Tommy Tiernan (a.k.a. Gerry from Derry Girls), Emma Doran, David McSavage, Dara Ó Briain, Ireland’s "Queen of Comedy" Deirdre O’Kane, double IMRO Award winner Emer Maguire, and Barry Murphy, founder of The Comedy Cellar in Dublin.

From overseas, New Zealander Rhys Darby, Australian Vanessa Larry Mitchell, and Englishman Jack Dee join the line-up.

“After more than 20 years, Galway is home to Ireland’s largest comedy Festival, and we are so proud that it takes place here in our lovely city, the unofficial home of the Arts in Ireland", said Festival Director Kevin Healy. "I promise you that we have booked the very best talent available.”

The festival will also include three nights of theatre, including the popular comedy play 'The Kavanaghs: Married With Parents'.

A further addition to the Comedy Festival will be the Irish Film Premiere screening of 'Exiled in Ireland', about three priests stranded by lockdown who believe God has exiled them.

Laughter Yoga is new to the programme as well, an interactive activity.

"GCF26" will be raising money for meningitis through CroíACT, an initiative involving volunteers who will perform stand-up for the first time, under the guidance of Karl Spain.
