Apocalyptic Love
Top-hatted rocker back to best
Slash (aka Saul Hudson) is back with his second solo album Apocalyptic Love and it’s a welcome return to form. Wisely disregarding “the revolving-door of guest singers approach” that spoiled the flow of his self-titled solo debut, Slash has instead roped in Alter Bridge warbler and kindred spirit Miles Kennedy. The result is a coherent record that rocks with the best of them.
Apocalyptic Love has wave after wave of wah wah guitars, howling, Rose-alike vocals and loud and proud guitar licks that are as dirty as a mud wrestle with Jodie Marsh. Setting his stall out with the opening title track, the album fuses ‘80s sleaze rock with punk attitude: ‘Halo’ and ‘Standing In The Sun’ are other stand-outs.
