Aliquot Strings
Tucan are acoustic instrumental guitar duo Donal Gunne and Pearse Feeney, who inject their fevered flamenco with elements of rock, jazz and trad. Opener ‘Garavogue’ gallops off with melodious twin guitars driven by Tony Oscar’s speedy percussion, whereas ‘E, K, J And I’ is a more reflective piece inspired by a grave in an old Sligo cemetery. There’s an exotic swagger to ‘Gypsy Thing’, which shines through again in the toe-tapping ‘Karluv Most’. Sometimes their grandstanding becomes pointless showing off, but there’s no denying the virtuosity Tucan display.
