Album Review: Problem Patterns, Blouse Club
Belfast punks rage against the machine - 8/10
First formed five years ago in Belfast, this four-piece have forged an enviable reputation, thanks to their fiery live shows and no-fucks given attitude. Indeed, Problem Patterns - lauded by the likes of Henry Rollins and Kathleen Hanna - are one of the North's most exciting prospects.
An eardrum-battering offering, brimming with primal riffs and lyrics that deserve to be inscribed on schoolbags, toilet walls and body parts, Blouse Club is a thrilling listen. Calling to mind the likes of Crass, Huggy Bear and War On Women, the record electrifies over the course of 12 cathartic tracks.
Stand-outs include the aptly named scream-fest 'Big Shouty'; the anthemic 'TERFs Out'; and the fiendishly catchy 'Poverty Tourist'. Empowering and explosive, Blouse Club is a patriarchy-smashing salvo of sound and fury.
Out Now.
