49 second single from former Hitcher
Niall Quinn has also been getting up to mischief in The Hague with Dutch punks Cooper.
Former Hitchers and Pennywhores mainman Niall Quinn is to release what just might be the year’s shortest single under his new name of Theme Tune Boy.
The song is called ‘Rose’ and clocks in at just 49 seconds! Theme Tune Boy will play some live gigs in the coming weeks to mark the release of the debut single. The title is mentioned every 7 seconds. Hot Press has been promised that the live gigs will be longer than the single.
Quinn with The Hitchers released two critically-acclaimed albums in the late 90s, as well a couple of EPs with the short-lived Pennywhores. He is currently putting the final coats of paint on the first Theme Tune Boy long-player Return of the Living Dead. Recorded in Limerick and The Hague, much of the album will feature legendary Dutch punks Cooper. Quinn will be assisted by fellow Shannonsiders The Demise to deliver it live.
The single ‘Rose’ will be available in a number of formats, including download from all the usual suspects, and Quinn is offering to re-record the lead vocal, changing Rose’s name to that of any girl, boy or pet, provided it’s under three syllables. Further details on www.themetuneboy.com
Theme Tune Boy play The Spirit Store, Dundalk on Saturday October 17 (solo show supporting the legendary Jinx Lennon). More dates TBA.
