2fm gears up for School of Rock final
The final heat of the 2fm School of Rock battle of the bands takes place this Friday, with special guests Boss Volenti (pictured).
The 2009 RTÉ 2fm School of Rock Final is to be broadcast live this Friday on the national broadcaster from 8 to 9pm.
Co-presented by Dan Hegarty and Ruth Scott and featuring Boss Volenti as the special guest act, the five competing bands will be pulling out all the stops to impress the judging panel, which comprises 2fm’s Larry Gogan, Dave Fanning, and Cormac Battle, Concerto For Constantine’s Mark Greaney, Faction Records’ Ken Allen, Pulse Recording Studios’ Tony Perry, Hot Press editor Niall Stokes, MCD’s Noel McHale, Entertainment Architects’ Emma Harney and a representative of Everest Music & Piano Centre who are supplying the victors with a €10,000 equipment voucher.
Also up for grabs are five-days recording time in Pulse, a support slot at an upcoming MCD event, a photo shoot with music photographer Enda Casey, a Pure Marshall DAB digital radio for each band member and, most importantly, a Hot Press interview.
The groups doing battle are Harrows (Dublin), Indie Kids Can’t Dance (Leinster), Boy # 7 (Ulster), Transgress (Connacht) and The Truffle Shuffles (Munster).
We’ll have a full report in our next issue, out on Thursday January 15.
