The child prodigy Slovakian guitarist has come a long way from busking on the streets of Limerick and Cork...
As Alan Owens, a Hot Press freelancer at the Limerick Leader, reports, 15 year-old Slovakian jazz guitarist and child prodigy Andreas Varady is to appear at Quincy Jones' star studded bash in Las Vegas this weekend.
Reacting to a video featuring Varady live at Miles Davis Hall in July last year, Jones took to Twitter with the following message:
"This kid is ridiculous!!! #nojoke Andreas Varady Alfredo Rodriguez Henry Cole On Drums Reinier Elizarde"
That astonishing Montreux Jazz Festival performance as part of Quincy Jones' Global Gumbo earned the 15 year-old Slovakian wonder-kid slots in New York and Los Angeles later that year. He impressed so much that Jones signed Varady to his management company earlier this year.
With a style influenced by Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery and George Benson, the Slovakian teenager has been performing internationally since the age of thirteen.

Varady's family moved to Limerick in 2007, and following two years busking on the streets of Limerick and Cork he met Irish drummer and producer David Lyttle. Lyttle went on to produce Varady's debut album in 2010 which brought him onto the radar's of Martin Taylor, Louis Stewart and Tommy Emmanuel, all of whom he went on to perform with.
Not bad for a 15 year-old.
