15 students showcased more than 30 unique outfits comprised of clothing and garments donated by the aparto team and students – promoting sustainable fashion and creating a more environmentally friendly world.
The second annual ‘Feel Good Fashion Event’ took place at aparto's Beckett House on Wednesday night, with 15 student residents strutting their stuff on the runway while promoting environmental sustainability – and showing just how fashionable second-hand clothing can be.
15 residents from colleges including Trinity College, UCD and TU Dublin captivated the crowd with confidence and unforgettable outfits, showcasing stylish dresses, jeans, jumpers, blazers, vests and hats of every flavour and colour. Dozens of guests and community members lined the brightly lit room, and enjoyed everything from fashion and music, to whiskey and donuts, all in the name of three good causes.
Along with promoting the circular economy, proceeds from the event will go to the Irish Cancer Society to help support cancer research and maintain their services for those affected by cancer, as well as Oxfam’s fundraising appeal for victims of the devastating earthquake along the Turkish-Syrian border, which is providing essential resources like food and shelter.
“aparto creates a real culture of environmental consciousness,” said stylist Irene O’Brien, who acted as the event’s host. All of the clothing featured in the show were donated by students and the aparto team, O’Brien said.
The student accommodation provider won the 2022 Global Student Living Award for environmental management for their continued effort in promoting sustainable fashion and the circular economy.
Once introductions wrapped, the crowd welcomed the student models with loud cheers as they strutted their stuff with confidence and power to upbeat jams. The audience was then taken by storm with a surprise dance duet that featured superb style and moves, motivating the entire crowd to clap along with every beat. Once the final model had left the runway, the collective ensemble earned a worthy applause from the crowd.

Following the show, two ‘best dressed’ winners in the audience were chosen for special prizes. However, the real prize was the opportunity for thrifting once all of the featured clothing items were brought back out for purchase.
Teeling Whiskey Cocktails and Red Bull provided drinks for the event, and Urban Plant Life provided refreshing plant life for the social space.
aparto hosted its first sustainable fashion show in March 2022 at Binary Hub to rousing success, with 10 student residents showcasing their unique styles and eco-friendly outfits, while proceeds from the event were donated to the Sick of Plastic campaign.
“They create a home,” O’Brien said of aparto. “They create a space where experiences happen, where events happen, gatherings happen, fashion shows happen… It’s where life happens.”
aparto will be taking the sustainable fashion show to Glasgow West End next week. More information about further events can be found on their Facebook page.
