Olivia Spuds - Mad Hatter Q&A: Favourite record? "Britney’s Blackout album from 2007. It’s timeless"
Irish 'mini mic gal' Olivia Spuds answers our Mad Hatter questions...
Who would be the last person you would invite to your birthday party?
Jennifer Lopez.
Who would be the first person you would invite to your birthday party?
Charli XCX for obvious reasons.
Favourite saying?
“They didn’t lick it off a stone.” It just scratches an itch.
Favourite record?
Britney’s Blackout album from 2007. It’s timeless.
Favourite book?
How To Murder Your Life by Cat Marnell. She became famous for being a party girl in New York, and she talks about her addiction to Adderall.
Favourite film?
Blow with Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz.
Favourite author?
I’ll be honest, I don’t have one.
Favourite actor / actress?
Adam John Richardson. He’s an up-and-coming Irish talent and was brilliant in The Dry. He’s one to watch!
Favourite musician?
Charli XCX, I first went to see her at her Halloween show in Brixton in 2019. It’s crazy to see how she’s evolved.

Most embarrassing moment of your life?
I don’t have one. Embrace the cringe.
Favourite food/drink/stimulant?
A spicy margarita, a pink sugar free Red Bull, and iced Americano with caramel syrup and a drop of oat milk.
TV programme?
Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, Salt Lake City and RHONY, first few seasons of Skins, Euphoria.
Favourite item of clothing?
I love my Burberry pouchette bag. I probably wear it too much, but it just goes with everything.
Most desirable date?
My DMs are crickets right now, so to be on a date at all is a win.
Favourite method of relaxation?
I’m a very highly strung person, so I think I need to be getting a facial in order to fully switch off, or to go for a walk without my phone.
If you weren’t pursuing your present career, what other career might you have chosen?
I would probably still be a carer with the elderly, as that’s what I did full time before I started mini mic videos.
Biggest thrill?
When an idea for a video comes to life and actually pays off.
Biggest disappointment?
Probably not getting certain jobs that I wanted in the past, but in hindsight, every rejection led me to the path I’m on now.

Your concept of heaven?
Getting a fresh blow dry with a coffee and dancing with the gays.
Your concept of hell?
Being in a waiting room attending appointments I’ve been putting off, or doing mundane tasks. My ADHD makes me dread it.
Greatest ambition?
Starting a business from creating videos of myself with a mini mic.
Period of history you’d most like to have lived in and why?
I’m 28, but I would have loved to be in my twenties in the ‘90s – with everything from the music and club scene to the fashion, it seemed like such an exciting era.
If you weren’t a human being, which animal would you have chosen to be?
A bird.
If you were told that the world was ending tomorrow morning, how would you react/what would you do?
Go on one last night out.
Your nominee for the world’s best-dressed person?
I think Bella Hadid always looks great. Her styling is so fun and ‘90s-esque.
Favourite term of abuse?
Calling someone a freak or clown is so satisfying, because how embarrassing to be one? Wouldn’t be me.
Biggest fear?
Living a life in fear of doing what you want, and watching other people live out your dream.
Humanity’s most useful invention?
Blow dries.
Humanity’s most useless invention?
Niche, but those hand-held milk frothers from the middle aisle in Aldi. They always break and a blender does the same job.
