Michael D Higgins Launches World Refugee Day Fair Play Cup!
It will take place Sunday 19th June. Hot Press (winners in 2015 pictured!) to defend their crown.
President Michael D. Higgins has launched the World Refugee Day Fair Play Cup. The competition will consist of 16 teams competing for the Fair Play Cup.
The tournament will take place on Saturday June 19 at the Law Society Gardens, Blackhall Place, Dublin 7. Its being hosted by United Nations High Commission for Refugees Ireland (UNHCR) and Sport Against Racism Ireland (SARI). Its the seventh annual Fair Play Cup.
16 teams representing the immigrant and refugee communities in Ireland will take part. The event is also a free Family Fun Day with face painting and juggling and circus performance workshops. World Refugee Day itself will take place on Monday June 20. The first one took place in 2000. The annual commemorations acknowledges to acknowledge the countries refugees make to their new homes around the world and to raise awareness for those fleeing their homes due to violence.

Hot Press has been a pioneering force in helping to change Irish society over the past 40 years, since the inception of the magazine in 1977. It strongly supports the emergence of a new, multi-cultural Ireland.
Over the past decade and more, Hot Press MGB has developed as a proudly multi-cultural club, with players from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Germany, France, Albania, Libya, Tunisia, South Africa, Algeria, Nigeria and the Czech Republic joining forces with the club’s core of Irish players, in footballing action every week. Hot Press MGB have played in both the SARI tournament and the Fair Play Cup every year, and were the winners of the UNHCR Fair Play Cup in 2010 and 2015.
