Alleged racist abuse by Israeli supporters will not be investigated by UEFA
Jayson Molumby heard what he thought to be racist chants aimed at Adam Idah in the first half of the game.
UEFA will not investigate allegations of racist abuse towards Adam Idah by Israeli supporters last night due to the correct protocols not being followed.
Ireland claimed a 3-0 victory in their controversial Nations League fixture against Israel in Debrecen, Hungary.
During the first half, Jayson Molumby asked match referee Harms Osmers and fourth official Florian Exner to "listen" to alleged monkey chants from roughly 150-200 supporters in the stadium during what was an "away" fixture for Heimir Hallgrimsson's side.
Because the correct protocol in that situation is to say the word "racism", it means that no action can be taken, as it wasn't reported correctly on the pitch, according to UEFA.
A UEFA delegate confirmed that Osmers and Exner determined there were no racist chants from the section.
Ireland's players wore black armbands at the game on Sunday in support of Palestinians killed during Israel's war on Gaza.
They also bowed their heads during Israel's national anthem and did not shake the hands of the Israeli team. Captain Dara O'Shea also pledged to donate all of his earnings from the match to aid Gaza.
After the FAI confirmed that it would participate in the match, goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu publicly opted out of the fixture.
He posted a statement on social media on Saturday, saying he felt, "it would be wrong to participate in the upcoming fixtures against Israel."
He withdrew from both legs of the fixture, including the next match set to take place on October 4 in Bačka Topola, Serbia.
