Hot Press College Roadshow 2025: Empowering Students to Recycle Correctly with Repak
Revisit all the action from our College Roadshow, featuring the launch of our new recycling challenge with Repak...
Following a fantastic few weeks, visiting campuses right across the country, the 2025 edition of the Hot Press College Roadshow has come to a close. This year proved to be another major success – with the HP team joining forces with Repak, to help students hone their recycling skills with a special new interactive element.
Repak's work is all about minimising the environmental impact of packaging, and encouraging and empowering people to recycle their waste correctly.

In Dublin, Waterford, Carlow and beyond, students were eager to get involved in our hands-on waste-sorting game. Those who could prove they knew their General Waste and Food Waste from their Recycling in the sandbag-toss challenge were rewarded with exciting Repak prizes, including hoodies, speakers and more.
With large crowds gathering to cheer on their friends – and embrace the competitive spirit – everyone picked up some handy recycling tips along the way, and learned more about their role in the Circular Economy.
The Hot Press gang, and collaborators such as Keelin Moncrieff, also invited students across the various campuses to share their ideas and experiences on the subject of recycling. Their fun, inspiring and insightful responses to questions such as 'How recycling could be made easier for students?' and 'If you were a plastic bottle in another life, what would you want to be recycled into?' are available to watch now as Instagram Reels.

On our travels, we also learned that many people had no idea that they'd been recycling incorrectly, until taking part in our interactive game. Thankfully, Repak are here to help!
When it comes to waste-sorting, there are three categories of materials that can go in your Recycling Bin: Paper & Cardboard; Plastics; and Metals, Tins & Foil. It's also crucial to keep your recycling 'Clean, Dry Loose' – meaning your packaging is free from food waste, dry, and placed in loose (not in bags or bin liners).
