Congratulations pour in for Rory McIlroy following Masters win
"An inspiration to us all," said Simon Harris on social media.
Golf Ireland, Michelle O'Neill, Simon Harris, and Donald Trump are among are among those congratulating Rory McIlroy on his Masters win.
The Northern Irish golfer defended his Masters title on Saturday, April 11, at the Augusta National in Augusta, Georgia, US.
"What he did here last year in completing the Grand Slam was historic, and to come back and do it again 12 months later, with all that comes with it, is hugely impressive. It reflects not just his ability but his mindset," said CEO of Golf Ireland Mark Kennelly.
"Rory came through the club system in Ireland, and that connection is still there. There's a real sense of pride in seeing him achieve something like this, and it's another special moment for Irish golf," he added.
O'Neill, First Minister of Northern Ireland, called McIlroy's achievement "remarkable," adding that his "incredible career is an inspiration for our next generation of athletes, giving them belief that they too can achieve great things."
Harris shared his congratulations for McIlroy on social media, calling him an "an inspiration to us all." He also said that the Masters were "a proud night for Ireland."
Trump was also among those who congratulated the golfer on his win, saying that with each year, "Rory is becoming more and more a legend!"
The US President also added that he's looking forward to seeing him at the Cadillac Championship, which is expected to be McIlroy's next appearance, set to take place at Trump National Doral in Miami at the end of the month.
McIlroy has become the fourth golfer, and the first since Tiger Woods in 2002, to successfully defend his Masters title. He first earned it at the 2025 Grand Slam, where he won over Scottie Scheffler. Now, he joins Woods, Jack Nickalus, and Nick Faldo as the only players to successfully uphold the title.
