Bohemians redesign jersey over image rights issues
No Marley, no buy.
League of Ireland side Bohemians have been forced to scrap the planned design for their 2019 away jersey featuring a likeness of Bob Marley after the reggae icon's estate informed them that they in fact do not have permission to use the image.
The jersey was initially revealed on the 23rd of October to mixed reviews ranging from praise to outright bemusement, and quickly received worldwide media attention. With a mural of Marley also being painted on a gate at their Dalymount Park home, the jersey served to pay further homage to do the Jamaican who has loose links to the club due to performing at the ground in 1980, quickly selling out of all pre-sale orders in the process.
