WATCH: Trailer drops for Beyoncé's next visual album 'Black Is King'
'Black Is King' will stream globally on July 31st on Disney+.
The new trailer for Beyoncé's second visual album, 'Black Is King', has arrived. The megawatt singer's follow up to 2016's Lemonade looks just as visually stunning, and explores the beautiful landscapes and people of the African diaspora, across New York, Los Angeles, South Africa, West Africa, London and Belgium.
Recently, a distribution deal was announced to make 'Black Is King' available on much of the African Continent, including South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Namibia, Cameroon, Liberia, Burundi, Senegal, Togo, Somalia, Benin, Congo, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Gabon, Cape Verde and many more countries. This will happen through MultiChoice Group’s M-Net and Canal+ Afrique.
One year of production later, 'Black is King' features an impressive list of diverse creatives, including directors Emmanuel Adjei (Shahmaran), Blitz Bazawule (The Burial of Kojo), Pierre Debusschere (“Mine” and “Ghost” videos for Beyoncé), Jenn Nkiru (BLACK TO TECHNO), Ibra Ake (creative director and producer on “This is America” video for Childish Gambino), Dikayl Rimmasch (CACHAO, UNO MAS), Jake Nava (“Crazy in Love,” “Single Ladies,” “Partition” videos for Beyoncé) and Beyoncé's longtime co-director and collaborator Kwasi Fordjour.
The new trailer provides a glimpse of some of the special guests in the film: models Aweng Ade-Chuol and Adut Akech, supermodel Naomi Campbell, Tina Knowles-Lawson, author and Academy Award®-winning actor Lupita Nyong’o, singer Kelly Rowland, Pharrell Williams and JAY-Z all make appearances, among many more artists. Many artists featured on “The Lion King: The Gift” album also make appearances.
'Black is King' will act as a "celebratory memoir for the world on the black experience," reads a statement. 'Black Is King' includes full-length videos for the songs “Already,” “Brown Skin Girl,” “Mood 4 Eva” and “My Power,” which is heard in the new trailer.
