WATCH: Michael Keaton stars in trailer for new 9/11 investigative drama ‘Worth’
Amy Ryan and Stanley Tucci also star in the Netflix original.
A trailer for the Netflix original drama Worth has been released and features Michael Keaton as an attorney investigating the aftermath of 9/11.
Keaton plays the role of Kenneth Freiburg in the Sara Colangelo directed film, as he investigates 9/11 and compensates victims. The film is based on true events, following the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund launched by Congress.
“An attorney learns a lesson in empathy when he is faced with the near-impossible task of determining how to compensate families who suffered incalculable losses as a result of the September 11th attacks in 2001,” reads a synopsis.
The drama will star Amy Ryan, Stanley Tucci, Marc Maron, Tate Donavan and Laura Benanti alongside Keaton. David Frankel was initially slated as director before Colangelo took over in February of 2019. Worth is set for release on September 3rd.
Max Borenstein's 2008 script What Is Life Worth? was used as the screenplay for the film. The script was based on Kenneth Freiburg’s memoir of the same name, and detailed his experiences with compensating the victims of 9/11. The script was included in The Black List in 2008, a survey of the “most-liked” scripts not produced.
Michael Sugar, who produced 2015’s Spotlight, will produce Worth alongside MadRiver Pictures’ Marc Butan, Sean Sorensen, Borenstein, Bard Dorros and Keaton.
