Trailer released for new Daniel Day Lewis film Anemone
The feature will see the actor come out of his 8 year retirement
The first trailer for Daniel Day Lewis' comeback film Anemone has been released. It will see the Oscar-winning actor coming out of retirement to grace our screens, for the first time since 2017.
The forthcoming drama was co-written by the actor and his son Ronan Day Lewis. It will also be his son's directorial debut. Anemone "explores the complex and profound ties that exist between brothers, fathers, and sons," according to the synopsis.
The feature also stars Sean Bean, Samatha Morton, Samuel Bottomley, Safia Oakley-Green and will be produced by Brad Pitt and Daniel Day Lewis.
The triple Oscar-winner retired from acting in 2017, after his last film with Paul Thomas Anderson, Phantom Thread. At the time a statement was released saying he would be "no longer working as an actor."
Considered one of the greatest actors of all time, Day Lewis' catalogue spans plenty of highly regarded and Oscar award-winning performances, including My Left Foot (1989) in which he plays disabled Irish writer Christy Brown, Paul Thomas Anderson's There will be Blood (2007), Gangs of New York, directed by Martin Scorsese (2002) and Age of innocence alongside Winona Ryder in 1993.
Anemone set to have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival, beginning in September, and will have its Irish release in cinemas on November 7.
