The cast of The Rachel Incident has been announced featuring Máiréad Tyers, Ellis Howard, and more
"The Rachel Incident is aching with unrequited love, shot through with delicious, sparkling humour about friends, lovers, Ireland in chaos, and a young woman desperately trying to manage all three," said Channel 4.
The cast of Caroline O'Donoghue's eight-part drama series The Rachel Incident has been announced.
The Rachel Incident will star Máiréad Tyers as Rachel, Ellis Howard as James, Sarah Greene as Deenie, and Daniel Ings as Dr Fred Byrne.
The show will also feature Cúán Hosty-Blaney as Carey, Ciaranán Dowd as Ben, Helen Behan as Bridget, Ardal O'Hanlon as Paul, Jeanne Ní Áinle as Sabrina, Maria Doyle Kennedy as Vivian, and more.
"Máiréad Tyers is a star and has always been my first choice to play Rachel," said writer, creator and executive producer O'Donoghue.
"She and the phenomenally charming Ellis Howard create what feels like an instantly iconic double act, fizzing with all the love and panic that makes being in your early twenties both nightmarish and amazing.
"To have the brilliant Sarah Green and Daniel Ings as Deenie and Fred is a dream, and I'm gushing with enthusiasm for the rest of the cast who make the world of The Rachel Incident feel so alive and full of energy - including but not limited to Ardal O'Hanlon and Maria Doyle Kennedy, actors I grew up loving and still can't believe are joining our team."
The filming of the adaptation is already taking place in Ireland, with the award-winning Dublin-based Elemental Pictures of Normal People and Poor Things among the producers of the new series.
The Rachel Incident is a coming-of-age novel set in Cork, between 2009 and 2010.
The New York Times bestselling book follows Rachel and her roommate James, whose lives get complicated when she falls in love with her married professor, Dr Fred Byrne.
