Belfast Punk Legend's Life to Become Stage Musical
Terri Hooley, the record owner instrumental in developing Belfast's punk-rock scene, is to have a stage musical based on his life.
Hooley previously was the centre of the 2013 critically acclaimed film Good Vibrations named after his Belfast based record store opened during The Troubles. There he played a hand in the development of various influential bands like The Undertones, Rudi, Protex and The Outcasts.
Now Good Vibrations will come to Belfast's Lyric Theatre, having been adapted for the stage by the same writing team behind the film biopic – Colin Carberry and Glenn Patterson. The pair were nominated for Outstanding Debut at the 2014 BAFTA Film awards.
While Hooley was played by Game of Thrones and Fortitude's Richard Dormer in the film version, Aaron McCusker will portray him on stage. The actor will also be appearing as Freddie Mercury’s partner in Bohemian Rhapsody later this year.
Good Vibrations will be on from September 1-30 this year. Tickets vary from £12 to £24.50.
