Stranger Things series finale trailer unveiled
The final season is set to debut in three parts this winter.
Netflix has released the official trailer for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, marking the long-awaited conclusion to the hit series.
Set in the autumn of 1987, the season will be released in three parts: Volume 1 on November 26, Volume 2 on December 25, and The Finale on December 31.
This concluding chapter finds Hawkins, Indiana scarred by the opening of the Rifts, as Eleven and her friends unite to face Vecna one final time. The town remains under military quarantine, and with Eleven once again forced into hiding, the stakes are higher than ever.
“I think what's unique about this season is that it starts a little bit in chaos because our heroes ultimately lost at the end of Season 4,” said co-creator Ross Duffer. “We usually set up their normal life and how they’re going about school, and then we introduce the supernatural element. But in this case, this season is sprinting from the start.”
His brother and fellow co-creator Matt Duffer added: “They’re not experiencing normal life. Nothing in Hawkins is normal anymore… their movement is restricted, and there are Big Brother cameras everywhere. So not only are they active — their everyday, normal lives are anything but.”
Returning cast members include Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, and Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, among others.
Since its debut in 2016, Stranger Things has become one of Netflix’s most successful and acclaimed series, earning over 140 million views for its fourth season alone and revisiting Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ nearly four decades after its original release.
Created by The Duffer Brothers, the show has won over 70 awards, including Emmys and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Volume 1 of Stranger Things 5 premieres November 26 on Netflix.
